Namibia is not a great railroad nation. The Germans built a good deal of the tracks at the turn of the 20th century. There have been two important railroad lines, one of them between Lüderitz and Seeheim/Keetmanshoop. The section between Lüderitz and Aus has been rebuilt with great effort during the last 15 years.

Once a small town called Garub was being built at this railroad line, just before the town of Aus, but it was abandoned as it was located within the later created restricted zone (Sperrgebiet). Nowadays Garub consists only of a deserted, decayed station buildung.
